I spent an afternoon with the Brown family – wow their energy and togetherness is gorgeous

I loved the afternoon, it was fun, relaxed, natural and happy -

all those cliche words you can think of? They were the epitome of them.

And me? Well I was the privileged soul asked to capture their spirit as a family.

After a week of not so great world news – I’d like to use these images to remind myself of everyday beauty and human connection.

Jess (me) from Essence Images and Kris from, The Best Little Vintage Van in Vegas are teaming up to bring you some Fun Brisbane, family mini sessions. These are great for kids or kids at heart – do you want to spoil your partner with a fun shoots together? You could be a couple or a family of four or you and your 3 puppies – whatever the combo, this is going to be awesome!

Find all the details you know. Session day is Monday the 6th May (public holiday) sessions times are on the half hour from 1pm – there are only SIX available – but if the day is a crazy success (e.g. all booked out with more interested) we will make another date available. I recently spent 7 weeks in Europe with my family. Two of those 7 weeks was spent with our extended family, who we love so!! We had a week in the French Alps with them, then some time in Paris. On New Year’s Day, we went for wander (plus a spot of tiggy!) to Jardin de Luxembourg (along with throngs of other people!) and I captured my precious, Marcus, Angie, Taylor, Charlie and Noah – there’s so many more images from this day, with my own family too, but I just wanted to share these guys today – we are missing them terribly as they adventure around the world for a year and can’t wait to hug them again soon! Enjoy the pics, I managed to get one lovely family shot – but the outtakes were too fun not to include!!! ps good looking family much????

We nearly missed this one and postpone due to weather, but never fear – the weather played nice and this gorgeous little family of 5 and myself went and hung out at the beach for some fun relaxed, cute-as portraits! I just loved mucking around with these guys, the kids were so spirited and each have their own unique personality. Thanks guys for choosing me to capture these memories for you, Jess x

What a gorgeous family this one is. We braved some very wild and woolly weather to capture these images, and thanks to the lovely Tisa and Todd from Moments In Vintage we had a lovely lounge element added to the session. I really enjoyed listening to Vanessa’s story of her family, and how each little addition to it was a joy. Her eldest daughter has the same name as mine – Leilani – which is something I don’t hear very often, and it was comforting calling someone else by the name I have probably said over a million times in the past ten years! Vanessa, I love your strength of character and really enjoyed spending some time with you, Scott, Leilani, Charlie and Evie. Jess x

Today I went to visit a lovely friend and someone who has worked super hard to create a business that she’s passionate about and has evolved to fit into her busy lifestyle of balancing being mum to three lovelies and wife to a husband who works away a bit and business owner to her little passion Billycart Markets. I thought I’d take along my cute Fuji X100 and take a few happy snappies – I walked in and fell in LOVE with the shop and everything in it – oh me, oh my…..SO gorgeous!!! It’s located here….and you can also get everything online here, if you can’t make it to the shop in person – how cool is that?

I was in love with so many things, but really love the art of the doggies created by Colin Crawford, and also the sweet little blankie by Nan’s Garden.

Thanks for chatting to me while I had my double shot Latte (yes I was not making sense until I drank it) Mel, you are a good dose of sunshine and fun energy! xxx

I have watched you grow and first photographed you when you were only hours old.

You were meant to be in this world.

You are a feisty little character full of energy and determination.

I loved spending the morning with you in Meribel, (these pics are right outside our chalet) just you and me while everyone else braved the blizzard!

It was boxing day and you insisted on wearing your Santa hat out into the snow

We had fun feeding carrots to the fish in the creek, making snow balls (and you throwing them at me)

Singing songs, and having a snack together.

You are a pure joy to be around!

I love you, dear nephew xxxx

I love this family, and it just grew by another little human and I now love it even more!!!! I’ve captured so many precious moments for these guys and I hope in the future there will be many more to document.

Meet Little Archie, he is one lucky little man to have an awesome mum n dad and the best big sister you could ask for!!!

Just before I came away on my big adventure, I popped over to their place for a wee visit to meet Archie – this is what I captured xxxx Merry Christmas guys I am sure you will love it with your complete family x
